What’s your number?
Do we justify our ailments by our age? Unfortunately, western society seemingly encourages this. Should we be doing certain things at a certain age?
Well, I’m 30 now, and I’m going to have some fatigue.
I’m 40 now. I’m bound to require glasses because my eyes are getting old.
I’m 50 now and my joints are getting old. I will have some pain there .
I’m 60 now and I’m bound to have some blood pressure issues.
I’m 70 now, it’s all going downhill.
In English we ask how old are you, even to a child. It goes in at an early age .
I much prefer the Spanish version ¿Cuántos años tienes? How many years have you?
“Whatever you believe to be true, whether it is true or not; if you believe it, then to you it becomes the true.”
Indigenous peoples do not count a calendar year and put that number next to their name for a lifetime. It's their ability, what they are capable of. Time gathers wisdom but not a greater number.
‘The truth is whatever you can get enough people to believe.’ These are the words of one of our so-called world leaders.
Thinking for yourself is a wonderful skill to practice. Just because the masses believe something doesn’t mean you have to believe it or it has any truth. No matter the hype. As we have seen in recent years.
Here we are talking about beliefs again, a main foundation on my road to health freedom. We talked about this here. It's not just thinking yourself younger either.
Your body is a mass of cells that reproduce consistently. From the stomach lining that is renewed every 2/3 days to the eyes that are more like 15 yrs. So how about also creating the best cells possible to replace the dying ones? The vehicle is only as good as the fuel. Build a better younger you.
Nearly two decades ago my body really did feel like it was broken for keeps. I felt older for sure what number I don’t know. As I have mentioned before, the specialist said I had knees of 79y.o.(Numbers are useful hey). Yes, I believed them when I was told there was no way back that I needed new ones. Yet here we are now, and I am in far better shape and capable than I was. (I thought this at first light this morning as I jumped the stone wall on our land going for a walk.) I believe I can keep getting better, not maybe. I will. I know what it’s like back there, and I ain’t going back, and I’ll keep all my own body parts, thanks.
We are obsessed with our number. Forget your number or at least don’t regularly remind yourself of it. Believe me, others will do it for you, especially those closest to you. My view is that it sends a message that it’s OK to have issues at a certain time. Its nonsense. I try not to get involved with adding up the years I really don’t. To add to the quote from last week :
Your body is the Receipt for the life you have lived. (The cells you’ve made) But maybe it’s also, what you have convinced yourself of.. (Your belief)
When I was on the health circuit talking about my arthritis turnaround. I found there were two types of people that would talk to me after. Those that really wanted to do something for themselves find out as much as possible and move forward and those that were comfortable with their complaints. I mean really comfy with them . What they really wanted was someone to listen to their problems but do little to change things. After all, it was their favorite subject (I was once one of those people). Problem with this is others get fed up with hearing you complain, and they become deaf to your complaints. It's your issue and, like your finances, your house or your car, it’s your responsibility. There’s always a choice. Read again here…. Taking ownership of a problem is a powerful step.
To stay with that second group for a moment; within these conversations was their age. It seemed like a get out of jail free card, except they kept the card to justify the lack of health. ‘Its to be expected because I’m 50’.
Now I’m a positive fella and I believe if you're reading this you are in the first group. Gain or maintain your health and live a good full life whatever your number.
Do you look after your money saving for retirement? Then bring your health along for the ride. It’s a lot more comfortable knowing you’ve invested in your health. Trust yourself to look after both and try all you can not give either away to a third party.
Grandpa Duck is content he’s got his feet in his wealth in a private moment .
If Grandpa duck added some Epsom salts to his gold he’d have both covered.
