“Whatever you believe to be true, whether it is true or not; if you believe it, then to you it becomes the true.”
My perception of arthritis was of old people with walking sticks and Zimmer frames. Of course, I’ve learned it's not like that, but that was my belief. Turns out even the very young can be affected, and it has its own label, juvenile arthritis (JA). Just to be clear, these posts are related to osteoarthritis (OA). With some extra worldly bits!
My preconceived beliefs held. I believed my joint issues were permanent and would get worse. This, was true to me in my mind at the time, and I looked no further. The information received reinforced his view.
The start of my salvation was a rather splendid osteopath. I remember the first day I went to see him . He had a practice at the top of a set of stairs. He stood at the top of those stairs and asked me to Come on up. I made my way gingerly to the top of the stairs, with him observing. He had a comforting presence and after an hour's examination, he said that he was not convinced he could help me as I had so much deterioration of the joints. But he would start at the bottom and refer me to a podiatrist for orthotics. This was the start of a 8-9 year relationship.
During a session one day, he said, ‘Well, of course, at some point you will need knee replacements. And then I won’t be able to treat you anymore.’ That was the moment I decided I had to avoid them. At the time, I was dependent on him, seeing him every 3 weeks, as I would start to breakdown after two weeks or so.
I’ve avoided the replacements and also gained independence from seeing an osteopath at short intervals.
In one of our sessions, he mentioned that in the U.S, they were successfully growing cartilage in labs. Now my cartridge had become a tiny, rough piece of tissue with tears and cracks. His comment stuck in my mind.
Then I found Bruce Lipton. He wrote a book called The Biology of Belief. He was one of the first stem cell scientists. He explained that he could change a human cell by changing the environment in the petri dish. (listen,2-min. clip). My interest has now peaked. I researched this and, over time, started working on the environment my joints were in, and the results came. With that, I have changed my belief about how illness finds a comfortable home in the human body. The western lifestyle helps chronic illnesses find a place to stay. ‘Before you blame the cell, look at the environment.’
Epigenetics doesn't change the genetic code; it changes how that's read. Perfectly normal genes can result in cancer or death. Vice versa, in the right environment, mutant genes won't be expressed. Genes are equivalent to blueprints; epigenetics is the contractor. They change the assembly and the structure. Bruce Lipton
So I slowly stopped being a patient in for a quick fix on the couch so I could carry on my destructive path. Instead, I worked on myself between sessions, and the osteopath would say OK, see you in six weeks, that went out to three months and more.
Previously, I had asked medical professionals why, if my joints were down to wear and tear, did I have the same issue occurring in my hand joints?
Now I realised I needed to change the petri dish.
I once heard someone describe a long-term friend they met again after some time. The term ‘He’s riddled with osteoarthritis now’ was used. Does that mean every joint is suffering from wear and tear? Or would it be the environment, the body, the petri dish that is the problem?
Our cells reproduce; we are a bunch of cells. You get brand new cartilage in your body every 7 months. You get a new skeleton every 7 years. You get brand new ones!
I believe if you can create a good environment, they will serve you better.
But in general, what are we told to believe? Each day false narratives are ubiquitous in the battle for our beliefs. Governments have active nudging units to steer public beliefs. Of course, the media is a tool for this, telling us the same thing over and over until it’s believed to be true. Do they think we can’t we be trusted with our own thoughts and beliefs?
Money, or, should I say, currency, relies on our beliefs to function. It fails when belief in it starts to die. Once backed by sound value, it is now an aberration of an aberration. Not a silver coin or backed by gold as it was. But a ‘trusted’ digit
Your belief in its value is what holds it together. Only a fraction is held to cover deposits. When the music stops, there are very few seats. Belief keeps the music playing. Colossal government debt and currency creation have created plenty of disbelief. Certainly, as a store of value.
"Repetition makes things seem more plausible."
Critical thinking is a useful tool for your success kit. It’s all in your hands if you can think for yourself.
Having a chronic illness can be life-changing, but limiting beliefs can be devastating.
Every circumstance in life is a change to grow, just as every outcome in life is your responsibility, and everything you want, you must initiate yourself.
Everyone seems to want that quick fix . Certainly your journey can be shorter than mine. But the ‘Three pillars’ the last three posts are the basis to success.
EFT helped me greatly with limiting beliefs when I finally took control of more than just my health. I would recommend trying it on any issue you may be struggling with. Sam at eftnow.co.uk has been a great help in the past.
Please consider sharing this journey with someone you know…….
Thank you!
If you missed last weeks post on choices here it is again……..
